Prepare for direct entry to Year 2 of an undergraduate degree at the University of East Anglia's (UEA) School of Art, Media and American Studies.

The International Year One is taught by the teachers from both our study center and UEA, combining expertise in the subject area and international student support to ensure you thrive in your studies. From film and TV to online media, you’ll examine a wealth of media forms. You'll also explore your own creative applications of different media, preparing for a diverse range of career paths.

Key Information

60 out of 120 credits are taught by UEA professors together with first year university students. You'll also receive additional English, critical thinking and academic support from the study center in smaller class sizes.
The core modules are taught in small classes sizes by our lecturer, Nicky Barrell, who has 25 years’ experience working in industry for BBC, ITV, Sky, Channel 4 as a series producer and director.
If you choose to specialize in film and television production, you will hone your skills using UEA’s state-of-the-art TV studio and gain an introduction to directing, camera-work, floor management and editing.
If you're aiming to progress to media studies or film and television studies, you will be introduced to major debates, theories and thinkers in media studies, and explore various audio-visual and audio formats.
Learn from UEA professors acclaimed for scriptwriting, producing and directing, having worked with local and international companies such as the Norwich Gaming Festival, The Walt Disney Company and HBO.
Gain valuable short-term work experience and long-term career opportunities thanks to UEA’s strong network of national and regional film and TV production company contacts.

Age Requirement

Academic Requirements

Minimum of 72 UCAS points (DDD), excluding General Studies and native language.

English Language Requirements

IELTS 5.5 overall with 5.5 listening and 5.0 in other subskills or equivalent.

iCAS

If you have a higher English language level, you may qualify for our iCAS – integrated Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) – programme. Combining your pathway and degree in a single study plan, you’ll only need one visa for the duration of your studies and can apply with alternative English language qualifications to IELTS.
